ROCKAWAY BEACH — Dancers take the stage at Rockaway Beach this month for a series of eco-friendly theater.

Beach Sessions Dance Series, which launched last year, debuts its second season on Aug. 20, featuring two free performances near the surf and sand.

The first, titled "The Mineralogy Of Objects," kicks off Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m., with an homage to legendary artist Joseph Cornell and his 1939 shadow box exhibition, "Varietes de Mineralogie Object."

The second performance, "Horizon Event No. 4," will premiere on Aug. 27.

Art aficionados can find both performances at Beach 90th Street, with the beach's boardwalk as a backdrop.

Following each show, the group works alongside non-profit environmental organization Surfrider Foundation to clean the beach.

Beach Sessions founder Sasha Okshteyn told QNS News she wants her series to be a marriage between encouraging creative dance and promoting environmental responsibility, according to reports.

“By experiencing something beautiful in the space, hopefully people will want to keep it beautiful for more engagement to flourish there,” Okshteyn said.

Those who help in the clean-up will receive a drink ticket for one beer at the recently opened Rockaway Brewery + Co. site on Beach 72nd Street.
