CRIME BLOTTER: Delivery Driver Grabs Gun to Foil Stick-Up Man

CROWN HEIGHTS — A 54-year-old delivery man took the gun from a man who tried to rob his truck on Bedford Avenue this week, police said.

The man was unloading his food truck outside 1619 Bedford Ave. at about 4:15 a.m. on Monday, police said, when a male suspect approached him with a 9mm Ruger handgun and said, “Give it up, motherf---er.”

The worker refused to give the would-be robber anything and the two men got into a scuffle. During the fight, the delivery man was able to yank the gun away from the suspect, who then fled in a black SUV, police said.

No one was injured during the altercation and police recovered the weapon and its ammunition. No arrest has been made in the attempted robbery and the suspect has not been identified.
