ST. GEORGE — A man has been charged in the murder of a man found dead outside the St. George Ferry terminal last week, prosecutors said.
Leonard Evans, 49, of St. George, allegedly stabbed German Pagan, 30, in the torso several times during a fight near 75 Richmond Terrace minutes after 2 a.m. on Friday, prosecutors said.
Police found Pagan on a bench near the Richmond County Bank Ballpark stadium, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
Evans was arrested shortly after the attack and charged with murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon at his Sunday arraignment, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.
Pagan had previously been attacked at the terminal on July 10 when he was held down and slashed several times with a boxcutter by two men after an argument, a law enforcement source said.
His two attackers — Isaiah John, 25, and Marcus Temple, 23 — were arrested and pleaded guilty to assault.
There is not believed to be any connection between the two attacks, a law enforcement source said.
Evans was held without bail and is due back in court on Monday. His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
