ST. GEORGE — The two men who slashed another after an argument on the Staten Island Ferry have pleaded guilty to assault, District Attorney Michael McMahon said.

Isaiah John, 25, and Marcus Temple, 23, on Monday admitted holding down the 30-year-old victim outside the St. George Ferry Terminal and slashing him with a boxcutter.

"With this guilty plea, both defendants will be held responsible for their roles in this violent assault," McMahon said in a statement.

"Ensuring the safety of commuters who travel each and every day on Staten Island’s public transportation is a priority for law enforcement and my office will continue to vigorously prosecute anyone who thinks they can do physical harm to another individual."

The victim was riding the 12:30 a.m. ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island on July 9 when he got into an argument with John and Temple on the boat, and it continued once the ferry docked, a law enforcement source said.

Temple held the victim down near the taxi stands at the terminal while John took out a boxcutter and slashed the man multiple times in the back of his left shoulder and right thigh, the source said.

The victim was treated and released at Richmond University Medical Center after the attack.

John — who was previously convicted of assault in 2012 — will serve five years in prison, with five years probation, for the attack, the DA said. He's scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 15.

Temple will face up to six months in jail, with five years probation, and is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 27, the DA said.
