UNION SQUARE — There’s no need to go to the boonies to watch “The Goonies.”
Movie lovers will have a chance to watch cult classic treasure-hunt romp “The Goonies” in Union Square Park on Thursday, joining the intrepid teen adventurers in their search for hidden gold.
The free screenings continue the following Thursday, on Aug. 11, with a showing of "Grease."
Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or a matt to sit on.
Food is available both nights from the park’s Pavilion restaurant, with a dinner tray of quinoa salad, pita crudité, Hummus, pesto pasta for $10 and milk and cookies on the dessert menu for $6. Attendees looking to chow down can preorder by emailing ThePavilion@chefdriven.com.
The screenings are part of the Union Square Partnership’s Summer in the Square series, which includes free fitness classes, kids’ events, musical performances, and giveaways. For a full schedule of events, which last through Aug. 11, see the Partnership’s website.
