THE BRONX — A Bronx landlord has been found guilty of manslaughter four years after killing one of his tenants and dumping her remains in upstate New York, prosecutors said Monday.

Nasean Bonie, 30, killed 35-year-old Ramona Moore at 663 Jefferson Place in the Claremont section of The Bronx in 2012, prosecutors said. Police said the two had been arguing about overdue rent for several weeks at the time.

Court documents state that Moore was last seen going inside the apartment building on July 31, 2012 to get her neighbor a mango. Shortly thereafter, a loud noise was heard from inside the building and Moore was never seen alive again, police said.

Bonie — previously identified as a building super — was arrested in Moore’s death on May 29, 2014 even though her skeletal remains weren’t recovered until nearly a year later.

What was left of Moore’s body was found in upstate Orange County just before Bonie’s trial was about to commence in April 2015. A forensic examiner found that her skull contained multiple fractures and signs of trauma, police said.

“For almost three years her family anguished over not knowing what had happened to her,” Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said in a statement. "Now they have justice."

Bonie is already serving a four-year prison sentence for assaulting his wife on July 10, 2012 and Clark said he now faces an additional 25 years for the “brutal and callous” murder.

He will be sentenced on Aug. 11 following a trial that spanned four weeks, prosecutors said.
