BRONX — Skeletal remains found upstate over the weekend belong to a woman who went missing in 2012, a major break in the murder case against her building superintendent, sources said.

Ramona Moore, 35, went missing on July 31, 2012 from the area near her home on Jefferson Place in the Bronx following a fight with her landlord's husband, Nasean Bonie, who was also the building super, prosecutors said.

Over the weekend, nearly three years after her disappearance, utility workers found the decayed remains of Moore's body in Orange County near property owned by Bonie's relatives, sources said. On Tuesday, dental records confirmed the remains belonged to Moore, sources said.

Last July, Bronx prosecutors charged Bonie, 30, with Moore's death even though they hadn't recovered a body, much to Bonie's dismay.

“I watch 48 on television,” he said, according to court documents, likely referring to the CBS true crime series "48 Hours." “I know you cannot charge me without a body. Where is the body?”

When Bonie was slapped with murder charges last year, he was already awaiting sentencing for assault charges after beating his wife, who is the owner of the Jefferson Place property where he worked as a superintendent, and where Ramona disappeared from, property and court records show.

In July of 2012, just days before Moore went missing, Bonie repeatedly punched and beat his wife with his fists, a belt and a belt buckle, fracturing her skull, the criminal complaint against him states.

He pleaded guilty to those charges and has a sentencing hearing as well as a hearing for the murder charges scheduled for Wednesday at Bronx Supreme Court, court records show.

Bonie is currently being held at Manhattan Detention Complex, correctional department records show.

Bonie's lawyer could not be reached for immediate comment.
