Man Struck and Killed Walking on Road Near Fort Tilden, Police Said

ROXBURY — A man was struck and killed while walking in the middle of the street near Fort Tilden, police said. 

The 26-year-old man, who has not been identified, was walking in the eastbound lane of Rockaway Point Boulevard, between Beach 193rd and Beach 184th streets, just after midnight Sunday, according to the NYPD. 

He was hit by the 22-year-old driver of a 2005 Toyota Sienna, who was driving on the road near Fort Tilden between Roxbury and Breezy Point, police said.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead, police said. 

The driver stayed at the scene and will not be charged, according to police.
