CRIME BLOTTER: Hammer-Wielding Women Caught Red-Handed in Brooklyn Break-In

CROWN HEIGHTS — Police arrested two women this week after catching them red-handed breaking into an apartment with a hammer.

An officer observed the women on a fire escape at 501 New York Ave. around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday using a hammer to try to break a window leading into the large brick apartment building.

The women, ages 18 and 21, were arrested a short time later. They have both been charged with multiple counts of criminal trespassing and burglary, court records show.

► A 26-year-old Chinese food deliveryman was robbed at gunpoint for his iPhone, police said. The robbery happened outside of 317 Lefferts Ave. around 5:00 p.m. on July 13. Two suspects approached the man, one pointed a silver handgun at him and demanded his cellphone. The suspects fled on foot and there were no injuries

► Officers responded to a ShotSpotter report of shots fired at 349 Utica Ave. around 3:30 a.m. on July 16 where police found a man shot multiple times in the elbow, thighs and groin. He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Police said they recovered two .380 caliber shell casings at the scene.

► A 38-year-old woman was arrested for attacking a woman buying a MetroCard at the Sterling Street subway station on Nostrand Avenue, police said. The altercation took place just about 9:00 a.m. on July 16 as the victim was buying a MetroCard at a vending machine in the station. The assailant approached her, grabbed her arm and hit her on the head with a bottle of water. The woman was arrested a short time later.

► A 50-year-old man was arrested for shattering a man’s car window with a metal object. The incident happened around 1:55 p.m. on July 19 at Nostrand Avenue and Lincoln Road, police said. The man approached the car parked on the street and hit it with an unknown metal object, shattering the windshield and causing about $250 in damage.
