Steve Rogers is coming home — as a one-ton bronze statue.

A 13-foot-tall depiction of the Brooklyn-born Marvel superhero Captain America is set to find a home, albeit an impermanent one, in Prospect Park this summer, the comic book company said.

For the 75th anniversary of the famous comic book character, Marvel has created the gigantic bronze statue — decorated with a quotation from the hero, “I’m just a kid from Brooklyn” — to be unveiled at this month’s San Diego Comic-Con, a spokesperson from Marvel said.

After the show, the statue will move cross-county to Prospect Park with a dedication ceremony scheduled for Aug. 10, the rep said.

Unfortunately, the statue will not stay in Brooklyn forever. The bronze figure will eventually move to several other cities before finding a permanent, as-yet-to-be-determined home, the Marvel representative said.

Marvel couldn't say how long the statue will remain in the park or where, precisely, it will be located. However, the company did say the sculpture originated in New York, as it was designed by a team of artists from the city, including Dave Cortes, a Gowanus-based sculptor who created the 3-D model for the Captain America figure.

The temporary sculpture installation will coincide with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams' weekly free outdoor movie series, "A Summer Movie Under the Stars," set to take place between July 22 and Aug. 12, according to the Parks Department and the Prospect Park Alliance.

On Tuesday, Adams said that character "was always more than just a kid from Brooklyn."

"The epic story of this paragon of patriotism, told over decades of crimefighting, has inspired millions of comic lovers across our nation," he said in a statement about the statue. "I am thrilled to be working with Marvel to bring Captain America home on his 75th anniversary."

To go with the sculpture, Marvel will be selling 750 12-inch bronze replicas of the statue and 100 35-inch pewter versions to Captain America fans, according to a first report about the artwork from USA Today.

“We hope that when fans see the statue, they will think back to a favorite comic book, treasured action figure or even be transported back to a special time and place in their lives where Captain America’s values played influence,” Paul Gitter, senior vice president of licensing for Marvel at Disney, told the newspaper.
