CRIME BLOTTER: 73-Year-Old Man Assaulted and Robbed by Woman Asking for $1

CROWN HEIGHTS — A 73-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of $180 by a woman who asked him for $1 on Montgomery Street, police said.

The woman asked the man for the money around 6:00 a.m. on June 15 as he walked eastbound toward Utica Avenue, the NYPD said.

When the man refused to give her anything, the woman pushed him to the ground and forcibly removed $180 in cash the man had in his front right pocket. The suspect then fled on foot.

The man suffered minor abrasions from the assault, but had no serious injuries.

The woman has not yet been identified and there has been no arrests in the case, police said.

► A 62-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint for his chain necklace on Nostrand and Lefferts avenues at 4:20 p.m. on June 16. The man told police he was talking to friends on the corner when three unknown men came up to him, threatened him with a handgun, snatched his chain off his neck and punched him in the back. All three fled on foot.

► A man bit and punched a liquor store employee after the worker refused to give the man $2, police said. The suspect came into the shop at 699 Flatbush Ave. around 12:50 p.m. on June 16 and asked the 65-year-old employee for the money. When the worker refused, he bit his left hand, punched him in the face and left the liquor store.

► Police found two bullet holes in the window and security gate of a storefront at 405 Lefferts Ave. and New York Avenue after multiple people reported hearing gunshots on the corner around 8:00 p.m. on June 19. Officers also found spent bullets and shell casings on the scene. No injuries were reported during the shooting.

► A 29-year-old man was grazed in the hip by a bullet after an unknown man came to his building at 456 Brooklyn Ave. and shot multiple rounds through his apartment door around 7:40 p.m. on June 21, police said. The man refused medical attention for the injury. No suspects have been identified in the shooting.

► Residents at two separate Carroll Street homes reported burglaries in the rear of their buildings on June 16 and 17, police said. The two burglaries have been identified as part of a pattern of eight similar break-ins in the neighborhood, police said.
