CRIME BLOTTER: Man Arrested for Jumping on Car Roofs in Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS — A 22-year old man was arrested last Friday for jumping on and damaging two cars on Union Street and smashing a window, police said.

Officers arrested the man on June 10 in front of 1496 Union St. near Albany Avenue around 3:40 a.m. when witnesses observed him jumping up and down on the roofs of two parked cars, a 2003 Buick sedan and a 2007 Toyota Prius.

The man was also seen smashing the front window of a home nearby, police said.

Police responding to the outburst arrested the man shortly after the incident. The property damage caused by the 22-year-old is estimated around $2,000, police said.

► A 34-year-old man reported tools stolen after his commercial van parked on Classon Avenue was broken into. The man came back to the white Ford van parked in front of 883 Classon Ave. around 11:00 p.m. on June 8 and discovered the driver’s side window smashed and drills, a bag of tools and a phone charger removed. The stolen property was worth $1,120, police said.

► A 28-year-old man was hospitalized after a suspect he told police was around 15 years old shot him once in the lower back in front of 537 Albany Ave. The shooting took place around 1:15 a.m. on June 11. Police recovered two shell casings at the scene, but no suspects have yet been identified.

► A 16-year-old boy was assaulted by two other teens who broke his nose, threatened to shoot him and tried to take his bike as he walking north on Nostrand Avenue near Presidents Street around 11:05 a.m. on June 11, police said. The suspects did not display any weapons during the assault. The suspects fled westbound down President Street on bicycles.

► A 17-year-old boy was robbed of a pair of sneakers by three men after he arranged through Facebook to sell the shoes to one of them. The teen had agreed to meet the man on Stoddard Place between Montgomery Street and Sullivan Place, he told police. When he arrived around 6:00 p.m. on June 12, the three men grabbed him, punching him in the face and took the sneakers out of his backpack.
