KIPS BAY — A burglar was arrested the day after police released security footage showing him trying pick his way into an apartment on East 25th Street, according to police.

Daniel Rivera, 55, was arrested on June 7, a day after the release of a video showing him trying to break into a duplex apartment at 214 E. 25th St. between Second and Third avenues on May 29, police said.

Rivera is seen in the video trying to get into an apartment through a door in the backyard porch, but that attempt fails and he eventually manages to break in through a basement window between noon and 7 p.m., according to authorities.

The burglar made off with two iPad Minis, a Chromebook laptop and a Fitbit Blaze, according to a police report.

Prosecutors charged Rivera with burglary, according to court records. A judge ordered him held at Rikers Island on $3,000 bail pending his next court date on June 20, records show.

Rivera has a criminal record dating back to 1990, including arrests for drug dealing and burglary, according to state records.

He was most recently released on parole ahead of a two-year sentence, and was out for just over a month before the East 25th Street burglary, according to Department of Corrections and Community Supervision records.

A lawyer for Rivera did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
