NEPONSIT — The Rockaway Beach Volleyball League is back on the sand after settling their feud with the National Park Service over storage space at Riis Park.
The league's commissioners announced Thursday night that they would be able to keep up their season after the Park Service, which operates the beach where the teams have played for 20 years, had come up with an alternative place for them to to store equipment.
Their former storage unit had been taken away to be used for the Riis Park Bazaar this year.
"We are happy to announce that we have reached an agreement with NPS," volleyball officials wrote in a Facebook post.
A spokeswoman with NPS confirmed that a location was secured.
League commissioners told DNAinfo New York that play would resume next Wednesday for the 27th season. They thanked media reports, Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder and many of the 1,000 players who called the NPS to help push things along.
Earlier this week, DNAinfo reported that the season was slated to be canceled while league officials tried to work out an issue with NPS over where to store the 78 nets, volleyballs, shovels and rock buckets used each week by teams.
