Mental_floss founders Will Pearson and Mangesh Hattikidur are hosting a night of trivia, prizes and surprise guests, with all proceeds going to YouTube stars John & Hank Green’s P4A: Project for Awesome (part of the nonprofit Foundation to Decrease World Suck, Inc.), which invites participants to make videos to raise funds for a variety of charities. Tickets are $15 and you must be 21 or older to attend.

Lunch break is getting even better this summer in Downtown Brooklyn with free outdoor music every Thursday at Metrotech Commons. This week, Zapp performs its brand of boisterous, bass-soaked funk with singles like “More Bounce to the Ounce,” “Doo Wa Ditty,” and “I Can Make You Dance.”

► The Haitian Creatives Series, Artist Spotlight

Artist Richard Louissaint showcases "The Haitian Creatives" series, with portraits depicting the lives of Haitian artists. The work will be on display at Grandchamps restaurant through the month of June, and Thursday’s event features a conversation with Louissant about community, Haitian culture, and more.

Kick off summer with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s annual Sunset BBQ.
