JACKSON HEIGHTS — City officials, community leaders and local dancers will help officially rename the northeast corner of 73rd Street and 37th Road "Diversity Plaza" on Saturday.
The open space, which has been in the community since 2011, is an "integral part of the Jackson Heights community," according to Councilman Danny Dromm.
There have been vigils, meetings, celebrations and movie screenings on the small block — and has become known as "the cultural crossroads of the world."
On Saturday it'll officially be named Diversity Plaza in a celebration that includes a special performance by Calpulli Mexican Dance Company.
Officials from multiple city agencies and local groups would also be present for the big reveal, Dromm's office said.
The celebration begins at noon.
