Woman Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run, Police Say

THE BRONX — A woman was critically injured Monday night when a car struck her in the middle of an Allerton street before the driver fled the scene, police said.

The 47-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately released, tried to cross Williamsbridge Road mid-block near Waring Avenue about 8 p.m. when a northbound car hit her, an NYPD spokesman said.

She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where she's in critical condition, police said.

The driver continued heading north and hadn't been found as of Tuesday morning, police said.

There were no immediate arrests, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
