ROCKAWAY BEACH — A police officer from the NYPD's 100th Precinct in Rockaway Beach was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning, officials said.

Vincent Harrison, 25, was driving on the New Jersey Turnpike, near Elizabeth, early Sunday when his car and another vehicle collided while changing lanes, according to State Police.

Harrison got out of his car and was hit by an Infiniti, which stopped briefly before leaving the scene, officials said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene just before 3:30 a.m., according to state police.

Harrison lived in Valley Steam, Long Island.

His commanding officer, Deputy Inspector Craig Adelman, tweeted about the death on Sunday morning.
