RED HOOK — Tesla Motors is slated to open its new Brooklyn showroom in March, a spokeswoman told DNAinfo Monday afternoon.
The electric car company is heading to 160 Van Brunt St. in Red Hook this year and plans to take over about 40,000 square feet at the former Golten Marine Terminal building.
Tesla sales and service centers are positioned "based on where our current and future customers live and in areas where people are informed and interested in technology," Tesla spokeswoman Alexis Georgeson said in an email.
"Tesla’s upcoming Brooklyn location is a testament to the strength of the New York City market and the fact we believe there will continue to be a strong demand for our vehicles in the area," she added.
The space is currently under construction, but signs for the new sales and service center were installed recently.
