Ponycon NYC My Little Pony Convention

Where: Grand Prospect Hall, 264 Prospect Ave., Park Slope
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. (and on Monday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Celebrate the magic of the 1980s toy and TV series "My Little Pony" at this three-day convention. There’s a range of activities aimed at both “bronies” (young male fans of "My Little Pony”) and families with young kids. The line-up includes costume contests, singalongs, panel discussions about the psychology of brony-ism, live drawing demonstrations, and Q&A sessions with key figures in My Little Pony history. Tickets range from $15 to $75.

Buster Keaton Breakfast For Kids

Where: Brooklyn Colony, 274 Fourth Ave., Gowanus
When: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Watch short films featuring silent film star Buster Keaton while eating breakfast at Brooklyn Colony. Tickets are $5 to $15 for this family-friendly event.

Where: Luckybird Bakery, 163 Montrose Ave., Williamsburg
When: 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Treat your sweat heart to a flower crown, a slice of homemade cake and a fine espresso at, Luckybird's pop-up Valentine's event where there will be cakes galore and fresh flowers from Ditmas Park based flower arranger Aurora Botantica.

Friday, February 12

Love & Loss with DJ Brian Sears

Where: Robert, 104 Bond St., Boerum Hill
When: 9 p.m.

Delicious cocktails and the fresh sounds of soul and funk will be featured at cocktail bar Robert this Friday night.

The Shed Storytelling Sessions - Escape: Daydreams, Avoidance, Going on the Lam, and Getaway Cars

Where: 757 Jefferson Ave., ground level, Bed-Stuy
When: Drinks at 7:30 p.m., stories at 8:30 p.m.

Storytelling salon "The Shed" hosts this month’s event with the theme of “Escape.” Organizers ask, “What is the most extreme thing you’ve ever done to get away from it all?” Guests are encouraged to tell their tales. The event is free but has a suggested donation of $10, and includes a potluck.

See a Camera Obscura at Gowanus Loft

Where: 61 Ninth St., Gowanus
When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Artists with Vanderbilt Republic have rigged up a camera obscura — a device that projects an upside down view of the world into a darkened room. It has to be seen to be experienced, but trust us, it’s cool.

Everybody Ain’t Lovin’ Poetry Night

Where: Therapy Wine Bar, 364 Lewis Ave., Bed-Stuy
When: 7 p.m.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers. Poets are encouraged to bring them love poems and “not so in love” poems for a night of readings and drinks, according to organizers. There’s a two-drink minimum for participants and attendees.

Saturday, February 13

English Sword Dance Festival

Where: Brooklyn Heights Library, 280 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn Heights
When: 1 to 2 p.m.

The 31st annual English Sword Dancing Festival brings the ancient ritual to Brooklyn Heights Library Saturday afternoon. Watch as a team of sword dancers perform mystical, stately long sword and vigorous rapper sword dancing to live music on fiddle, accordion and other instruments.

The Knights Family Concert

Where: BRIC House Stoop, 647 Fulton Street, Fort Greene
When: 2 p.m.

BRIC artists-in-residence "The Knights" take you through centuries of dance music, from Beethoven to Spanish folk at this family-friendly concert. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Brahms, Beethovan, and Andres

Where: St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church, 157 Montague St., Brooklyn Heights
When: 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The String Orchestra of Brooklyn will perform a Violin Concerto with acclaimed musician and violinist Rachel Lee Priday. The performance will include works by Brahms, Beethoven and Timo Andres. Tickets are $16 and can be purchased here.

Galentine’s Day Workshops at Artists and Fleas

Where: Artists and Fleas 70 N. 7th St., Williamsburg
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Craft your heart out the day before Valentine’s day at "Artists and Fleas" with workshops all day long where you’ll learn to make your own stickers, samosas, screen printed T-shirts and engraved jewelry. Tickets cost between $30 and $50.

Valentine’s Tango with Anabella

Where: Mark Morris Dance, 3 Lafayette Ave., Downtown Brooklyn
When: 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Tango with your partner at this pre-Valentine’s Day beginners class where you’ll learn the basic steps, turns, body posture and footwork.

A Bootlegger’s Tea Party

Where: The Landing at Industry City, 220 36th St., Sunset Park
When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

This Valentine’s weekend, take a trip to Bourbon Street. Baby Soda Jazz Band, a New Orleans-style street jazz band, will be performing Saturday afternoon at "The Landing" for A Bootlegger’s Tea Party. Pop-rock group Tribute String Quartet will also be performing original music arrangements of songs by David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, The Pixies, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, and more. To top things off, there will be free food and chocolate. Relax and Paint

Where: Sehiii Gallery, 1103 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Channel your inner artist at this painting event with Sehiii Gallery’s Valentine’s Day weekend special. Fees are $30 per guest or $50 per couple.

Big Break Comedy Night

Where: Bluebird Cafe, 504 Flatbush Ave., Prospect-Lefferts Gardens
When: 8 p.m.

Comedians Anna Drezen, Jeff Simmermon, Adam Mamawala and Subhah Agarwal will perform at this $5-a-ticket comedy night in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens hosted by locals Charlie Kasov and Tyler Fischer.

Sunday, February 14

Valentine’s Wine and Draw

Where: MoCADA, 80 Hanson Place, Fort Greene
When: 3 to 5 p.m.

Sketch and sip at a Valentine’s day drawing workshop led by artist Ruby Onyinyechi Amanze. The event is open to both couples, for $35, and singles, for $20. Wine and supplies will be provided.

Pierogies the Ukrainian Dumpling: A Cooking Class

Where: Court Tree Collective, 317 Court St., Carroll Gardens
When: Noon to 3 p.m.

Personal chef Marina Berger will be teaching amateur cooks how to make pierogies on Valentine’s Day, which will be followed by a sit-down dinner with sweet and savory dumplings and toppings to go along with them. Tickets are priced at $50 per person.

Sunday Sounds: The Best of the Worst Love Songs

Where: 61 Local, 61 Bergen St., Boerum Hill
When: 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Need to get away from pink hearts and mushy love songs? Head to 61 Local where 11 area bands will be performing the best of the worst and most ridiculous love songs ever written. The performing artists include Trot Fox, Mel Hsu, Bria Monet, and Miss Anthopica. Tickets are $8.

Flight School: Rev. Jesse Jackson on Air Jordans, Entrepreneurship, and more

Where: Jordan Heads Brooklyn, 302 Malcolm X Blvd., Bed-Stuy
When: 2 p.m.

The civil right activist Rev. Jesse Jackson will share his views on basketball great Michael Jordan, the phenomenon of the Air Jordan brand, entrepreneurship, hip hop, and more, at Bed-Stuy’s Michael Jordan-themed sneaker boutique. The Walking Dead Valentine’s Day Screening

Where: The Saint Catherine, 660 Washington Ave., Prospect Heights
When: 9:00 p.m.

Screw a candle-lit dinner with your boo. Join The Saint Catherine bar on Valentine’s Day instead, for the season premiere of "The Walking Dead", a “romantic evening of watching people eat each other’s faces off in a post-apocalyptic hellscape,” the bar said.
