JACKSON HEIGHTS — A man was arrested late Friday for trying to abduct a 10-year-old girl from 81st Street earlier that day, police said.
Jaminton Carela, 29, was arrested and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and harassment for following the young girl Friday morning around 7:40 a.m, according to the NYPD.
He first motioned for the victim to come join him across the street, police said. When she ignored him, he followed her — then tried to grab her, according to police.
The girl ran away and screamed for help, and a school crossing guard on 37th Avenue chased Carela away, police said.
He's due back in court Feb. 5, according to records.
