
QUEENS — Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl from a Jackson Heights street Friday morning.
The girl was walking on 81st Street in the 115th Precinct around 7:40 a.m. when the suspect, who was across the street, motioned to her to come join him, police said. When she ignored him, he crossed the street, started following her and reached out for her.
The victim ran and yelled for help, police said. A school crossing guard who was at 37th Avenue chased the man away, police said.
Police describe the suspect as being a 6-foot-2 man around 220 pounds in his 30s with a medium complexion and blue eyes.
He was last seen wearing a dark green vest, a dark green shirt, a blue backpack, and a black hat. There is a large tattoo on his right forearm.
