Turns out that raccoons like Chinese food just as much as any other New Yorker.

Bronxite Tamika Jones recently took a video of a pair of the creatures clinging tenaciously to a metal gate inside of a Chinese restaurant in The Bronx while her godfather valiantly tries (and eventually succeeds at) chasing the creatures away with a broom.

An "A" grade from the Health Department is posted right next to the gate that the raccoons tried to claim as their own territory.

“I was scared,” Jones said. “It was funny, but for the most part I was scared.”

Jones, 18, went to the restaurant with her 11-year-old younger brother and godfather on Thursday around 10:30 p.m. She said she heard something cracking over her head while she was inside but didn’t notice any raccoons until after she had already walked out.

“I stood outside, and I saw my little brother run out of the store, and he was terrified,” she said. “I go back, and then I see them trying to get into the back.”

“The raccoons were hungry,” she added.

The critters growled as her godfather tried to knock them away with a broom, but they eventually scampered out the door and ran across the street, she said.

Despite this unexpected run in with some raccoons, Jones did still try some of her food from the eatery.

“I didn’t waste my money,” she said. “After a while, I didn’t want to eat it because I just kept thinking about it.”

The viral video, credited to Jukin Media, has already been viewed more than 2 million times and shared more than 57,000 times on Facebook.

The attempted raccoon takeover took place at the New Chinatown restaurant in The Bronx, according to the Daily News, and the restaurant had no comment about the incident.

No word yet on whether one of these guys is the same critter who supposedly helped the Mets reach the World Series.
