CARROLL GARDENS — Two teenagers swiped a cellphone and waved a knife at a cab driver who picked them up in Carroll Gardens early on a recent morning, police said.

The teens — 14 and 16 years old — were both arrested later the same day, police said.

The 41-year-old  cab driver picked up the first teen, who got into the back seat of the vehicle, at President and Clinton streets on Dec. 13 at roughly 1:20 a.m., according to the police report.

Soon after the ride started, the teen asked the cabbie to pull over and pick up a second passenger. The driver unlocked the doors and the second teen jumped into the front seat, police said.

While the second teen grabbed the cabbie's cellphone, the first teen brandished a knife through the taxi divider between the front and passenger seats, according to the police report.

The two teens fled with the cellphone but were arrested nearby at Carroll and Columbia streets less than 20 minutes later, at 1:38 a.m.

The teens, whose names were not released due to their age, were charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property.

The driver did not suffer any physical injuries.

In the 28-day period ending Dec. 13,  robberies in the 76th Precinct were down by 3.6 percent when compared to the same period a year ago, police records show.
