CRIME BLOTTER: 2 Men Shot in Red Hook on Thanksgiving, Police Say

RED HOOK — Two men were shot and injured about a block away from each other around the same time Thanksgiving night near the Red Hook East Houses, police said.

A 28-year-old man was walking on Bush Street near Henry Street roughly 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 26, when gunshots rang out, authorities said.

The victim "heard a bang" and was wounded in the right calf, police said. He was taken to New York Methodist Hospital for treatment, according to officials.

The second man, 22, was walking on Center Mall, also near Henry Street, when he was shot in the right knee at about the same time that day, police said.

The victim heard two "bangs" and started running. He didn't realize he was shot until he reached his home, where he noticed he was bleeding from his right knew, police said. He was also treated at Methodist Hospital.

It is not immediately clear whether the two victims knew each other, or if they were the intended targets of the shooting.

Police are still investigating the incident.

► Two MacBook Air laptops worth $5,000 total were stolen from a Baltic Street home on Nov. 25 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. Thieves fled the home through the basement door, police said.

► More than $8,000 worth of construction equipment was stolen from a commercial Chevrolet van parked on Summit Street on Nov. 24 between 3 and 3:30 p.m. The stolen items include a Galaxy 2000 Sander and an edger. 

► A package holding $249 leather boots was stolen from outside a Sackett Street home near Court Street while the victim was at work. The incident took place Nov. 25 between 12:19 and 2:38 p.m.
