THE BRONX — There are now ten people who have become sick with Legionnaires’ disease after being exposed to Legionella bacteria in Morris Park, according to officials.

All ten patients have underlying health conditions and were exposed to the disease before Sept. 21, the New York City Health Department said.

Nine of the victims are still hospitalized and one has been released, the city said.

Officials tested 35 cooling towers in the area and seven have come back positive for having the bacteria, according to the health department.

The towers that tested positive were at the following locations:

► Chase Bank at 2725 East Tremont Ave.

► Calvary Hospital at 1740 Eastchester Rd.

► Lehman High School at 2964 East Tremont Ave.

► Bronx State Psychiatric at 1500 Waters Place

► Einstein College buildings at 1199 Sackett Ave., 1845 Eastchester Rd. and 1301 Morris Park Ave.

The towers had all been cleaned after the summer outbreak and were being disinfected again, according to the health department.

The current cluster is not related to the summer outbreak, according to health officials, which killed 12 people and sickened more than 120.
