THE BRONX — Police charged a driver with manslaughter on Tuesday after a City Island hit-and-run accident earlier this month.

Michael Moreno, 25, was driving a white Hyundai Genesis over the City Island Bridge on Sept. 11 when he struck Gabriela Aguilar-Vallinos, 27, while she was cycling at 11:46 p.m., police said.

Moreno then fled the scene and Aguilar-Vallinos was taken to Jacobi Hospital, with severe head trauma, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver turned himself in to The Bronx District Attorney Tuesday and was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was expected to be arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court later in the day.
