FAR ROCKAWAY — Two teen boys have been charged with manslaughter after killing their 15-year-old friend with a gun they brought to her apartment Friday that accidentally went off, police said.

The boys, also 15, brought a gun to Wilta Wordsworth's seventh-floor apartment on Collier Avenue on Friday, police said.

While they were showing it to Wordsworth and another female friend, it accidentally went off around noon, hitting the teen in the head, according to police.

She was rushed to St. John's Episcopal Hospital and died Saturday from her injuries, police said.

After the shooting, the female friend searched for help from neighbors, according to Damon Neal, 52, whose daughter was in their sixth-floor apartment when she heard the cries for help.

She heard banging on the door along with "help me, help me, help me," he said — but his daughter was too scared to open the door.

The teen boys, who have not been identified because of their age, allegedly tried to cover up the shooting, police said.

They were taken into custody on Friday but were not cooperating at first with police, according to the NYPD.

They were arrested Saturday and charged with manslaughter, weapons charges and tampering with evidence, according to the police.

A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said Wordsworth moved into the apartment a little more than a year ago with her mother, an older sister and a younger brother.

A small memorial was created at the building Saturday to remember Wordsworth, who also went by the nickname Taya.
