► Brooklyn BEAT Festival

Where: Various locations
When: Sept. 10 to 19

Ten days of performances by the borough's artists kicked off Thursday. They'll continue all weekend and next week, bringing spoken word, dance and theater to various venues in Brooklyn, including the Weeksville Heritage Center in Crown Heights and the Liberty View Industry Plaza in Sunset Park.

Renegade Craft Fair

Where: Brooklyn Expo Center, 72 Noble St., Greenpoint
When: Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The fair with products made by independent and DIY makers comes back to Brooklyn this weekend at the Expo Center. More than 200 makers of home goods, jewelry and visual art will be selling their wares.

The Apu Trilogy     

Where: BAM Rose Cinemas, 30 Lafayette Ave., Fort Greene
When: Sept. 9 to 12; Showtimes vary

Three newly-restored films that together make up “The Apu Trilogy” from renowned Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray will be screened at BAM this weekend. The three-part series is a coming-of-age story made up of “Panther Pachali,” “Aparajito” and “Apur Sansar.”   

Future Foods Expo

Where: Colossal Media, 85 Wythe Ave., Williamsburg
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This event looks at trends in cooking, eating and talking about food, with chefs, tech and media experts all presenting their ideas of what’s next in the food industry. Free to attend.

29 Rooms by Refinery29    

Where: 15 Huron St., Greenpoint
When: Saturday and Sunday: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fashion and lifestyle site Refinery29 celebrates its 10th anniversary with a 29-room art exhibit in a Greenpoint warehouse with film, visual arts, music and more. Expect to be more than just a voyeur in this “multi-sensory” exhibit, organizers said.

Friday, September 11

Akichi Night Bazaar

Where: 1181 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Check out vintage goods and local vendors at Bed-Stuy’s night market. The owners of Akichi Flea, which operates out of a lot on Fulton Street and Spencer Place, bring DJs, food and drinks this Friday to join their collection of old Airstreams.

Comedy Night in the Waterfront District

Where: Jalopy Theater, 315 Columbia St., Carroll Gardens
When: 8:30 p.m.

Join Christine Lavin and Don White for a musical comedy night at the Jalopy Theater and Tavern in the Columbia Street Waterfront District. Tickets are priced at $25 and the show begins at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 12

90s Fest

Where: 50 Kent Ave., Williamsburg
When: 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Stars from the 90s are packing this festival, including Salt-n-Pepa, Smash Mouth, Coolio, Lisa Loeb and Pauly Shore. Other 90s fun, like Rugrats, Sunny D and neon nails, will join the party at the waterfront park. Attendees are highly encouraged to dress up. Only tickets priced at $75 and $150 are still available.

Pig Island

Where: Next to IKEA in Red Hook
When: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pork lovers of New York will be heading to Red Hook on Saturday for the sixth annual Pig Island, a food festival that’s all about locally-sourced hogs. The event will feature more than 20 chefs who will be whipping up some pork-tastic delicacies for hungry diners. This year, organizers have also added whiskey and spirits as well as special VIP tents with wine service.

Large Professor at Jordan Heads

Where: Jordan Heads Brooklyn, 302 Malcolm X Blvd., Bed-Stuy
When: 9 p.m.

Hear rapper and record producer Large Professor speak at the Jordan Heads Brooklyn boutique. Large Pro is known as a founding member of hip hop group Main Source and as a collaborator of Nas. The free event kicks off at 9 p.m. with tunes from DJ Steve Austin, and seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. An after party will take place next door at the Casablanca Cocktail Lounge.

Columbia Waterfront Fall Festival

Where: Columbia Street between Degraw and Union streets & Union between Columbia and Hicks streets
When: Noon to 5 p.m.

The seventh annual Columbia Waterfront Fall Festival is back with food vendors, live music performances, retailers and children’s activities.

Wild Parrot Safari

Where: Brooklyn College, 2900 Bedford Ave., Flatbush
When: 11 a.m.

Join The Brooklyn Parrot Society on this urban safari to see the wild green parrots that call Brooklyn College home. The flock dates back to the 1970s and is “one of the oldest self-sustaining wild parrot colonies in Brooklyn,” according to Brooklyn Parrots. The tour is free but space is limited; RSVPs are enouraged.

Big Break Comedy

Where: Bluebird Cafe, 504 Flatbush Ave., Prospect-Lefferts Gardens
When: 8 p.m.

The new “Big Break” comedy show put on by two Prospect-Lefferts Gardens locals features five stand-up acts — Aparna Nancherla, Nick Turner, Brad Austin, Ashley Brooke Roberts and Dave Lester — this Saturday night at the Bluebird cafe and restaurant on Flatbush Avenue. Tickets are $5.

Sunday, September 13

The Wanderlust Festival

Where: Prospect Park Bandshell
When: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This “mindful triathlon” brings together a 5k run, outdoor yoga and a group meditation for those who wants to experience “community above competition,” organizers said. The event will include food vendors and various live music acts. Registration for the run is $60, but free tickets to the event are available, as well.

Printmaking and Tenants Rights Workshop

Where: The Old Stone House, 336 Third St., Park Slope
When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Artists Oasa DuVerney and Mildred Beltre, who are community organizers in Crown Heights, will teach silk screen printing and inform participants about their rights as tenants. A public interest lawyer will be at the workshop from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and attendees will be given advice and resources. Everyone will go home with a poster “containing important information you need to know as a tenant,” according to the Old Stone House. The workshop is free.

Pencil Passion at Green-Wood Cemetery

Where: Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Greenwood Heights
When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Caroline Weaver, owner of the Lower East Side pencil shop CW Pencils, will lead this talk and tour that explores the history of the humble pencil — not the kind that Apple just introduced. Weaver will tell tales of the heated battles between pencil manufacturers of the 19th century and explain the innovations of pencil maker Eberhard Faber, who’s buried at Green-Wood. Weaver will display pencils and vintage advertisements from her personal collection. Weaver’s talk at the Green-Wood chapel is free; tickets are $20 ($15 for cemetery members) for a trolley tour following the talk that includes a visit to Faber’s grave.

Second Sundays at Pioneer Works

Where: Pioneer Works, 159 Pioneer St., Red Hook
When: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The monthly Pioneer Works fest is back on Sunday with live musical performances from The Ghost Train Orchestra and 75 Dollar Bill. Art exhibits that will be on view include “It Was A Time That Was A Time,” a presentation of new and recent works from Shezad Dawood and “Training Session” by Mathilde Roussel. La Newyorkina will also be back selling its popular Mexican ice pops called paletas.
