LOWER MANHATTAN — Police are searching for the cyclist who slammed his bike into an MTA driver last month, after he was told he couldn't bring his bicycle along for the bus ride.

The 41-year-old driver was left bruised after the man became violent when he was reminded that bikes aren't allowed, police said.

The bike rider, who boarded the bus at the corner of Broadway and Park Row on July 4 at about 7:45 a.m. became irate and started to hit the driver with his bike, police said. He told the driver "Get off and I will kick your ass," according to police reports.

The driver was left with scratches and bruises, police said, and was treated by an EMT. The man sped off on his bike before police arrived.

The suspect is described as approximately 5-foot-9, with short, blond hair and was wearing a gray T-shirt with white shorts at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at nypdcrimestoppes, or by texting info to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
