LOWER MANHATTAN — An MTA bus driver was left bruised and scratched after an irate cyclist became violent when he was told he couldn't ride the bus with his bike in tow, police said.

The 41-year-old driver told police that as the man boarded the bus on July 4 about 7:45 a.m., he informed the cyclist that he wasn't allowed to take his bike along for the ride.

The bike rider, who hopped onto the bus at the corner of Broadway and Park Row, became enraged and started to ram his bike into the driver, police said. He told the driver "Get off and I will kick your ass," according to police reports.

The driver was left with scratches and bruises, police said, and was treated by an EMT. The man took off on his bike before police arrived.
