Rumors of Roll-N-Roaster's Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

By Heidi Patalano | August 3, 2015 1:04pm

Sometimes we don't appreciate things until they're gone... or at least rumored to be leaving soon.

That's the takeaway for beloved Sheepshead Bay restaurant Roll-N-Roaster, which was flooded with phone calls Sunday when a rumor surfaced that the 45-year-old roast beef sandwich joint would close in October, Sheepshead Bites reports:

“One woman was crying on the phone and another walked in and she was in tears,” said manager Eric Rodriguez after denying there was any truth to the rumor. “It’s absolutely false. Roll-N-Roaster is here to stay and is not going anywhere.”

The manager said that the restaurant received more than 100 phone calls Sunday, after a rumor surfaced Saturday night saying that the restaurant was sold to a condo developer. Sheepshead Bites reported that, when distraught customers were asked where they'd heard the rumor, many cited a Facebook that was shared 1,270 times:
