Free Contemporary Dance Shows to Heat Up Rockaway Beach

ROCKAWAY BEACH — Watch modern dancers make the beach their stage at the peninsula's first outdoor dance show. 

Beach Sessions will begin their inaugural season on Saturday, Aug. 1, with shows the next three Saturdays in August. 

The first show features The D.R.E.A.M Ring, a group of dancers from Brooklyn that showcase flexn' and other street dance styles.

Other performers include Emery LeCrone DanceLoni Landon Dance ProjectShannon Gillen | VIM VIGOR.

The free shows Saturday shows start at 4 and 6 p.m.

The group's goal is to support the arts and its connection to the natural environment, according to their Tumblr page.

After the final show, the group will host a beach cleanup at Beach 81st Street and nearby.
