84 NY Post and Daily News Newspapers Stolen From Building Lobby, Police Say

CARROLL GARDENS — Who says print is dead?

Dozens of newspapers published by the New York Daily News and the New York Post were stolen from the lobby of a residential building in Carroll Gardens since the beginning of the year, according to police.

Between January 3 and July 24, 84 newspapers worth $189 were taken from the vestibule, according to a police report. 

The lobby, the report said, was open to the public. 

Other notable incidents in the 76th Precinct, according to police, include:

► A bicycle worth $656 was stolen from Tiffany Place in the Columbia Street Waterfront District on July 25 or 26 at night, according to police. The bike was chained at the location, according to police. A $50 basket, a Kryptonite lock worth $50 and other accessories were also stolen, police said.

► A 26-year-old man was punched in the back of the head by an unknown attacker July 19 around 12:20 a.m. on Bond Street in Boerum Hill. The thief, who said, "give me your money," took $40 in cash from the victim's hand, according to police. 

► Between $1,000 and $1,500 in copper and brass pipes were stolen from a former Long Island College Hospital building July 19 between 7 and 10:30 p.m., according to police. The thieves broke into a small window on the side of the building by removing the screen and fled through a back door toward Henry Street.
