GRAMERCY — Police arrested a man who flashed a 25-year-old woman and tried to rape her in the entryway of her apartment building on Saturday, the NYPD said.

Dominique Brown, 20, of East Harlem was arrested and charged with rape, burglary and sex abuse, according to the NYPD

Police said Brown followed the woman to her apartment building in the Gramercy area and attempted to rape her in the vestibule at about 3:25 a.m. on June 6.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD on Monday shows the suspect exposing himself as the victim passed by and then following her off-screen. She managed to fight off her attacker, police said, and refused medical help at the scene, police said.

According to social media posts made by the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association on Twitter and Facebook Sunday, the attack occurred in Stuyvesant Town.

The complex's management referred questions to the NYPD. The chair of the tenants association did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
