CARROLL GARDENS — A man managed to escape a knife-wielding suspect who threatened to rob him about a block from the NYPD's 76th Precinct, police said.

The 35-year-old victim was parking his truck in a lot at Hicks and Union streets on June 2 around 3:50 a.m. when a man wearing a black jacket and a red hat approached him carrying a knife, police said.

The man began to scrape the knife on the sidewalk and said, “give me money,” according to the police report.

The victim managed to distract the suspect and ran towards the 76th Precinct at 191 Union St.

Police officers conducted a canvas of the area and found a man, identified as 47-year-old Robert Brown, at Hicks and Congress streets nearby.

A knife was discovered in the front waistband of Brown’s pants, according to police.

Brown was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment, among other charges, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

Brown’s attorney declined to comment.
