JACKSON HEIGHTS — Two local politicians will host a forum for residents on Wednesday to learn more about President Barack Obama's latest executive action on immigration as well as the state's DREAM Act.

Assemblyman Francisco Moya and Congressman Joe Crowley will be joined by immigration lawyers and advocacy groups for the discussion.

Moya is a sponsor of the DREAM Act bill in the state assembly and has pushed for its passage. It was not, however, included in the most recent state budget.

Immigration lawyers and experts will also be available to answer questions from attendees on individual issues and concerns.

Obama's executive action on immigration was announced last November and will protect up to 5 million undocumented immigrants.

But the orders have faced opposition from national lawmakers.

On Monday, Mayor Bill de Blasio along with representatives from more than 70 cities and counties, signed an appeal to help push the passage of Obama's plan.

The forum will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at P.S. 69, 77-02 37th Ave.
