TRIBECA — A model with ties to former Italian Prime Minster Silvio Berlusconi filed a complaint with the NYPD alleging that Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein groped her at the Tribeca Film Center, DNAinfo has learned.
The 22-year-old Italian model, whose name was withheld, told police she was showing the film producer her modeling and acting portfolio at his office inside the TFC at 375 Greenwich St. last Friday at 6 p.m. when he suddenly began to run his hands over her breasts and thighs.
She told him to stop and contacted the police shortly after the incident, sources say.
The woman was formally interviewed by NYPD Special Victims investigators on Saturday. She has yet to be quizzed by the Manhattan DA’s Sex Crime Bureau, which will ultimately determine if Weinstein should face any criminal charges.
A source described the young model as an "acquantance" of Berlusconi, a media tycoon who served three terms as Prime Minister of Italy who was forced out of office amid charges he had sex with underage prostitutes as well as tax fraud charges.
Weinstein is co-founder with his brother Bob of the former Miramax Company, which produced Hollywood blockbusters including “Chicago,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Cider House Rules,” “Shakespeare In Love,” “Good Will Hunting” and “Pulp Fiction.”
They presently operate the Weinstein Company, which they describe as a “multi-media production and distribution company” for movies and television programs.
Weinstein married his second wife, English fashion designer Georgina Chapman, in 2007. They have two children together.
Calls to Weinstein’s office were not immediately returned. Spokesmen for the NYPD and Manhattan DA respectively declined comment.
