JACKSON HEIGHTS — Police say a man bought thousands of dollars in iPhones using a credit card from a worker for the city's largest school for the deaf, then picked the phones up at a FedEx shop using the worker's ID, police said.

The suspect allegedly placed an online order for iPhone 5s phones on Dec. 22 totaling approximately $7,800, and used the credit card of an employee at the Lexington School for the Deaf on 75th Street and 30th Avenue, police said.

The suspect picked up the package the next day at a FedEx shop at 118-00 Queens Blvd. in Kew Gardens and used the employee's ID to obtain the package, according to police.

It's not clear how many iPhones he bought, or where he ordered them. The phones sell for at least $99 to $149 each, according to the Apple website.

It was not clear how he got the employee's ID and credit card.

A representative from the school could not immediately be reached for comment.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
