CROWN HEIGHTS — A recently released ex-con was arrested after he shot at three people during robberies last week, including a 19-year-old woman he shot in the chest and stomach while she was getting her mail, the NYPD said.

Jovan Frederick, 32, a parolee who had been out of prison for fewer than 30 days following a 2011 robbery conviction, is now facing attempted murder, assault and robbery charges for last week's armed robberies, police said. He was arrested early Sunday morning after mugging a woman at Albany Avenue and Midwood Street, near his home, about 2 a.m., police said.

Officers in the area responded to the robbery after hearing a gunshot Frederick fired at his victim and arrested him shortly afterward, sources said. The victim was unharmed in the shooting.

His mugging spree started just a couple blocks away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, when he robbed a man at 1:45 a.m. on Maple Street and Kingston Avenue, firing a single shot that missed the victim, the NYPD said.

Two days later, Frederick struck the same corner, demanding money from a 19-year-old woman at 562 Maple St. while she was picking up mail in her lobby about 1:15 a.m., police said. She had no cash on her at the time, and Frederick shot her in the abdomen and chest, officials said. She was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

As of Monday, Frederick has not yet been arraigned on the charges, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's office. Police sources said he has an arrest record dating back to when he was 16 years old.

Information about his lawyer was not immediately available.
