NEW YORK CITY — This month Eli Zabar has expanded his culinary empire with a farm-to-table restaurant, a store with mustard on tap opened on the Upper West Side and a taco shop with the twist popped up on the Lower East Side.

Here are five new places to try if you’re in town for the holidays:

Voilà at 221 W. 79th St. on the Upper West Side

A do-it-yourself chocolate store has opened on the Upper West Side where patrons can customize anything from a chocolate bar to chocolate-layered lollipops. Voilà has stations throughout its store where customers can make their own chocolaty treats, including French mendiants and truffles.

Goa Taco at 79 Delancey St. on the Lower East Side

A new taco store is trading a regular tortilla for a traditional Indian flatbread that chef and Goa Taco owner Duvaldi Marneweck describes as “the buttery, flaky love child of a tortilla and a croissant.” Fillings including homemade chicken chorizo and slow-roasted pork belly.

Maille at 185 Columbus Ave. on the Upper West Side

The decadent pinnacle of Maille’s new boutique on Columbus Avenue is its $99 jars of black truffle and Chablis mustard, followed closely by a Whole Grain Chardonnay mustard at $63. The French-owned Maille also has a tap system where customers can fill ceramic jars with mustard.

Defonte’s of Brooklyn at 95 Water St. in Stapleton, Staten Island

A Red Hook restaurant that has been serving Italian sandwiches since 1922 has opened a location on Staten Island. Defonte’s also serves classic Italian-style meatball parmesan and sausages with peppers. The restaurant has a catering service as well.

Eli’s Table at 1413 Third Ave. on the Upper East Side

Restaurateur Eli Zabar expanded his culinary empire with an upscale farm-to-table restaurant called Eli’s Table. The restaurant is next door to Eli’s List wine shop and Eli’s Manhattan supermarket, which will supply Eli’s Table with most of its ingredients.
