BOERUM HILL — A man snatched a cellphone from an 11-year-old boy in Boerum Hill as the victim was walking home Monday afternoon, police said.

The boy was approached by the 21-year-old old suspect about 3:10 p.m. on Baltic Street, between Smith and Hoyt streets near Boerum Park, and took the $50 LG phone from the victim's hand, police said.

The man then stuck his hands in the boy's pockets and demanded money from him, but the victim did not have any, according to police.

The thief fled towards Hoyt Street on Baltic Street, police said.

No arrests have been made in the case yet.

Other notable crimes in the 76th Precinct, according to police, include:

► A thief took $20,000 worth of jewelry from a Warren Street residence in the Columbia Waterfront District between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday, police said. The victim, a 72-year-old man, said he was informed by his maid that one or more thieves entered his home through the second floor window and stole roughly $20,000 in assorted jewelry that belonged to his grandmother, according to police.

The jewelry was kept in a box inside a closet in a downstairs basement apartment, police said. Nothing else was taken from the home, but a firearm was recovered at the scene.
