QUEENS — From kid-friendly pumpkin smashing to a chance to meet live bats and a KISS cover band, the borough is full of Halloween events that are both spooky and entertaining.

Here's a roundup for the weekend:

Jackson Heights Halloween Parade, Friday, Oct. 31, 5 p.m. 37th Avenue from 89th Street to 76th Street, Jackson Heights.

The 24th annual event is the largest kid-centered Halloween parade in New York, according to organizers Jackson Heights Beautification Group. Local school bands and other groups perform along the route, and many shops on 37th Avenue hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.

More than 3,000 goodie bags will be handed out at the end of the route, at P.S. 69, organizers said.

HALLOWSCREAM with KISS IT at Blackthorn 51, Friday, Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m. 80-12 51st Ave., Elmhurst.

The borough's toughest rock club hosts HALLOWSCREAM 2014 with KISS IT, "the ultimate NYC KISS tribute group," who will perform in full makeup and play the band's classics. Six other bands will also play on Blackthorn's stage, and there is a costume contest and drink specials throughout the night. Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are $16 the night of the show.

Canine Costume Carnival at Rockaway Freeway Dog Park, Saturday, Nov. 1, noon - 2 p.m. 83-02 Beach Channel Drive, Rockaway Beach.

Prefer dressing your pooch up instead of yourself? Bring your dog to the peninsula's dog park by the Rockaway Freeway, for a carnival that features raffles and music.

Smash Your Old Pumpkins at Sunnyside Greenmarket, Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10:30 a.m., Skillman Ave. between 42nd an 43rd streets, Sunnyside.

The NYC Compost Project wants your post-Halloween pumpkins and is hosting a pumpkin-smashing event at the Sunnyside Greenmarket. You can unleash any aggression from the week by ripping the old jack-o-lanterns to shreds — all for the good of future gardens.

Watch Pumpkins Get Tossed at NYSCI, Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., 47-01 111th St., Corona.

And if you're more interested in propulsion than smashing, NYSCI is hosting a pumpkin-tossing event on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Their catapult, named Chuck, will toss the orange gourds high into the sky.
