GREAT KILLS — A man died and another is in serious condition after their boat capsized in water near Staten Island's Great Kills Harbor Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Anthony Accardo, 82, of Rossville, died after he was recovered by the FDNY when the power boat he was on capsized, the NYPD said.

The FDNY Marine Unit and the Coast Guard responded to a mayday call from the boat in Raritan Bay, near Great Kills Harbor, at 10:34 a.m., spokesmen for the two agencies said.

When rescue boats arrived, they found Accardo and another 87-year-old man in the water next to a partially submerged power boat, the spokesman for the Coast Guard said.

The FDNY's marine unit took both men out of the water and transported them to Staten Island University Hospital South, the spokesman said. Accardo was pronounced dead and the other man was originally listed in serious condition, the Coast Guard said.

He was later treated and released from the hospital in the afternoon, police said.

Officials did not release the name of the other man, and said the medical examiner will determine the cause of Accardo's death.
