WAKEFIELD — Police are searching for a suspect in the murder of a 36-year-old man, who was found shot to death inside his home Friday.

Jercar Brooks, who lived at 634 East 233rd Street in the Bronx, was found by police responding to a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot, police said.

Brooks suffered two gunshot wounds to his torso, the NYPD said. Emergency responders at the scene declared him dead.

Further police investigation revealed that Brooks was killed Thursday afternoon, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Surveillance video footage released by police shows Brooks standing outside his building and speaking to two men who pulled up in a black Chevy Camaro.

On the video the primary suspect, a tall man wearing a fitted grey Yankee hat and a grey and red North face jacket, can be seen getting out of the passenger side of the Camero and walking into the building with Brooks. The two then leave the building and return once more. A few minutes later, the suspect is seen running out of the apartment by himself carrying a large package. He then gets in the passenger door of the Camaro and flees the scene.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
