BOERUM HILL — A Brooklyn man was killed and three others were wounded Friday in an incident at a Brooklyn building that police were investigating Saturday.

Around 6:45 p.m., three masked robbers dressed in black burst into the apartment, shooting it up and attacking the men inside, police said.

William Jordan, 43, lived in a ground-floor unit of the 572 Warren St. apartment building, where he was shot in the head, police said. Another man, 38, who was in the same apartment, suffered a graze wound to the hip, but refused medical attention, police said.

Two other victims, a 40-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both suffered head wounds from being pistol-whipped, police said. Jordan was rushed to Methodist Hospital but unable to be saved, police said.

Neighbors said the deceased victim was the only one who lived at the home, and several were shocked about the outburst of violence.  "This kind of thing doesn't really happen around here," said one neighbor from the fourth floor, who did not want to give his name.

"They were calm, collected people," said the neighbor, adding that he was now worried for his own place, too.

Another neighbor, Carlotta Juarez, who has lived in the building for 42 years, said they had no no security cameras but that management was in the process of installing them. She said she feels unsafe lately, especially after she said there was a previous knife attack in October.

The rash of crimes was a new phenomenon, she said.

Police said an investigation was ongoing.
