'Splendid' Opens First Brooklyn Shop on Court Street

COBBLE HILL — Fashion house "Splendid" has opened their first Brooklyn shop, expanding the neighborhood’s growing population of national retailers.

The LA-based clothing house opened their flagship store at 142 Court St. on Sept. 27, just a month after they announced their plans for Brooklyn.

Splendid announced their long-term lease for the 1,100 square-foot ground floor space in August.

Fashion giant J.Crew signed a 10-year net lease to take over 2,349 square feet on Court Street in June.

The clothing boutique, which has 22 countrywide locations, sells apparel for men, women and children, according to their website.

At the new Cobble Hill shop, the “lifestyle brand” carries basic wear, including leggings and T-shirts priced about $50, as well as more expensive items like $200 cashmere sweaters, said Gloria Ovalle, an employee at the shop.

The store carries styles for women and children but has not yet added their men’s collection to the boutique, said Ovalle.

"The store’s design stays true Splendid's Southern California beachy roots with natural wood fixtures and a daybed for daydreaming; plus a wall of live plants brings an outdoor element to the space," a Splendid spokeswoman said in August.
