Service Changes to Disrupt 18 Transit Lines this Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — This weekend is a good time to take advantage of the cooler weather by riding your bike to avoid the 18 lines slated for service changes.

Construction and maintenance work, including asbestos abatement south of Chamber Street, will be bring changes to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, A, C, D, E, F, J, L, M, N, Q, R lines and the Staten Island Railway.

Here's the breakdown per line:

1 Train: Downtown trains will run express from 72nd Street to Times Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

2 Train: Downtown trains run express from 72nd Street to Times Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

There will also be no service between 241st Street and Nereid Avenue from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. The Bx39 and free overnight shuttle buses will provide alternative service.

3 Train: Trains will run between Harlem-148th Street and Penn Station late nights from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

4 Train: Service will run local between Grand Central and Brooklyn Bridge from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

5 Train: Trains will run every 20 minutes between Dyre Avenue and Bowling Green from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

7 Train: Flushing-bound trains will skip 33rd, 40th, 46th, 52nd and 69th Streets from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

A Train: Downtown trains will run local from 59th Street to West 4th Street and then will be rerouted over the F line to Jay Street-Metro Tech from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Uptown trains will local from 125th to 168th streets from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

C Train: Downtown trains will be rerouted over the F line from West 4th Street to Jay Street-Metro Tech from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday.

E Train: Downtown trains will run express from Penn Station to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

D Train: Northbound trains will stop at 135th Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Train: Queens-bound trains will run express from West 4th Street to 34th Street-Herald Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

J Train: There will be no service between Broadway Junction and Myrtle Avenue from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. Trains will operate in two sections:

• Between Jamaica Center and Broadway Junction.
• Between Chambers Street and Myrtle Avenue and then rerouting via the M line to and from Metropolitan Avenue.

Free shuttle buses will run between Broadway Junction and Myrtle Avenue. Riders can transfer between J trains and shuttle buses at Broadway Junction and/or Myrtle Avenue.

M Train: Service will be suspended from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. Riders can take the J train, which will make all M stops between Myrtle Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue.

L Train: Service will operate in two sections: between 8th Avenue and Broadway Junction and between Broadway Junction and Rockaway Parkway every 24 minutes.

N Train: Service will be rerouted over the Q line in both directions between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:30 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound trains will run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Q Train: Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Sheepshead Bay to Kings Highway from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

R Train: Service will be rerouted over the Q line between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. There will be no R or N service in either direction at City Hall, Cortlandt Street, Rector Street, Whitehall Street, Court Street and Jay Street-MetroTech.

Bay Ridge-bound trains will run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Staten Island Railway: There will be no service between Old Town station and St. George Terminal from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will provide service between Old Town and the entrance to the ferry terminal.
