THE BRONX — A 43-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged in the March shooting death of 28-year-old Craig Brewington.

Thea Gurley, who lives in the building where Brewington was shot, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Police found Brewington with a gunshot wound to his throat after responding to a 911 call at 2857 Baker Ave. about 12:13 a.m. on March 31. Brewington, who lived in West Farms, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He reportedly stopped by the building to collect money from a friend and then planned to eat dinner with his 2-year-old daughter and female friend, who were waiting in a car for him to leave the building.

Police said Brewington and Gurley knew each other, but it was not immediately clear if Gurley was the person Brewington was looking for in the building.

The investigation into the shooting's motive was ongoing, police said Tuesday.
