
EAST FLATBUSH — An off-duty NYPD cop was killed Thursday morning when his car slammed into a tree along Kings Highway, police said.
The police officer, whose identity was not immediately released but who is believed to be in his 20s, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center after the car wrapped around a tree at Kings Highway near Beverley Road about 4:15 a.m., cops said.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
The circumstances of the accident are under investigation, but police don't believe a crime was committed.
